Toni & Guy hairdressers win prestigious award

Two of Swindon's Toni & Guy hairdressers are celebrating after winning the regional stage of a prestigious annual hair award.

 

26-year-old Vikki Holland and Daryl Greenaway, 25, beat off tough competition from 39 other salons to be named winners of the Western region L'Oréal Professionel Colour Trophy 2008 award.

 

The pair had just thirty minutes to style a winning look under the brief 'hair inspired by fashion'.

 

They scrutinised the Autumn/Winter 08/09 catwalks and decided to develop a look that reflected the romantic gothic influence.

 

And although it was a nerve-wracking experience, the pair revealed that they were quietly confident.

Daryl explains: "We knew it would be tough, but our idea was really individual and different from anyone elses, so we were quietly confident."

With the grand final held on Monday night at Earls Court in London, the pair narrowly missed out on a once-in-a-lifetime prize package that includes a photo shoot for Vogue and an all-expenses paid luxury trip to New York.

 

But they're still the best in the West.
